Mont Saint-Mont to Normandie is like Versailles to Paris. It's a small commune West of Caen. What's so interesting about it is the majestic castle from the 11th century situated in the middle of a tidal island. In the past, when it was high tide, the castle would be inaccessible on foot. Now a bridge provides full access to the island from the mainland. Tourists from all over the world flock there year round. We were no exception.
The drive there from Caen was very pleasant. At one point, kids commented on how much it was like driving in Canada. With wide double lanes on each side of the highway at a speed limit 100-130km/hr, we got there in no time. We found a view point 10 min out near a sheep farm to take a quick break and stretch out our legs. It was nice and calm. All we saw was acres of beautiful grass land with hundreds if not thousands of sheep grazing freely without any borders. That led us discuss why the meat in France always tastes so good. These are happy sheep.
